Clinical Areas of Interest:
Background:
Zach grew up primarily in Georgia, where he earned his Bachelor's degree in Child and Family Development and his Master's degree in School Counseling from the University of Georgia. He relocated to the Northern Virginia area in 2015 and, after several years working in school settings, transitioned into outpatient therapy in 2022. That background in schools gives Zach a practical, grounded understanding of how early experiences shape the patterns clients bring into adulthood — and informs the way he works with clients across the lifespan, from adolescents to older adults.
Approach:
Zach draws from ACT, narrative therapy, mindfulness-based approaches, psychodynamic theory, and solution-focused techniques — meeting each client with the combination that fits their needs and goals. His style is collaborative and strength-focused, helping clients build self-understanding and recognize their own capacity for meaningful change. Zach has particular depth working with the military community, including service members, veterans, and military families — a population he is genuinely committed to serving. He also brings thoughtful, affirming care to LGBTQ+ clients, men navigating the particular barriers around seeking help, and neurodivergent adults working through ADHD and the shame that so often travels alongside it.
Just for fun:
Outside of work, Zach enjoys playing board games, cuddling with his cats, and ballroom dancing with his wife.
