Background:

Amy is a Resident in Marriage and Family Therapy at Crescent Counseling Center. Originally from Atlanta, Amy has called Northern Virginia home for more than 20 years. She earned her Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Virginia Tech and has spent the past two years supporting individuals, couples, and families on their journeys toward growth and connection.

Technique:

Amy brings a compassionate and grounded presence to her work, creating a warm and welcoming space where clients feel safe to share their stories. She collaborates with clients to identify their goals, recognize their unique strengths, and cultivate meaningful change in their lives. Within relationships, she helps clients uncover the patterns that keep them stuck and move toward deeper, more fulfilling connections.

Her approach integrates several evidence-based modalities, including Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Bowen Family Systems Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Amy has also received advanced training in Emotionally Focused Therapy for couples, guiding partners to better understand, express, and respond to one another’s emotional needs to foster secure and healthy bonds.

Just for fun:

Outside the therapy room, Amy loves spending time with her husband, two daughters, and their dog, Ginger. She enjoys playing soccer and believes that life is always a little better with chocolate.
