Background:

Amy is a Resident in Marriage and Family Therapy originally from Atlanta who has called Northern Virginia home for more than 20 years. She earned her Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Virginia Tech and has spent the past two years supporting individuals, couples, and families navigating growth, connection, and change. Amy's training in Marriage and Family Therapy gives her a distinct clinical lens — one that considers not just the individual in the room, but the relational systems and family patterns that shape who we are and how we connect with others.

Approach:

Working under clinical supervision, Amy brings a compassionate and grounded presence to her work, creating a warm, nonjudgmental space where clients feel genuinely safe to share their stories. She draws from Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Bowen Family Systems Theory, and CBT — with particular passion for couples work. Amy has received advanced training in EFT for couples, helping partners better understand, express, and respond to one another's emotional needs in order to build more secure and fulfilling bonds. She is developing interest in premarital counseling and supporting individuals and couples navigating the relational weight of major life transitions, financial stress, and the vulnerability that comes with asking for help in the first place.

Just for fun:

Outside the therapy room, Amy loves spending time with her husband, two daughters, and their dog, Ginger. She enjoys playing soccer and believes that life is always a little better with chocolate.

She is registered with the Virginia Board of Counseling and provides clinical services under the supervision of the LMFT listed below. As a Resident in Marriage and Family Therapy, she does not obtain or provide services on an independent basis, and she does not independently submit insurance claims. All insurance claims are submitted through Crescent Counseling Center.
