Background:
Carolina is a Resident in Counseling at Crescent Counseling Center. Born in Peru, she was raised in Northern Virginia and brings over five years of experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and families. She completed her bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Spanish and earned her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from George Mason University. Carolina has worked in diverse settings including community mental health and nonprofit counseling centers.

Carolina’s therapeutic approach blends the core concepts of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) with client-centered methods and mindfulness techniques to empower clients to manage distressing symptoms. Her style is warm, empathetic, and direct. She utilizes evidence-based, collaborative strategies that respect cultural practices and identity. As a bilingual first-generation immigrant, Carolina is deeply passionate about supporting multicultural and intersectional identities as well as social justice advocacy.
