Eva Allison, MA
Resident in Counseling (she/her)
Clinical Areas of Interest:
Grief & Loss
Chronic Pain & Illness
Trauma & PTSD
Adolescent Mental Health
Relationship Dynamics
Background:
Eva is a Resident in Counseling originally from Storrs, Connecticut (Go Huskies!). She moved to the D.C. area to pursue a career in international development and worked in contracting for five years before realizing her true passion was working directly with people. Eva earned her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Marymount University in Arlington, Virginia. Her clinical background includes experience in hospital and residential substance use treatment settings, giving her a strong foundation in supporting individuals through significant life challenges.
Technique:
Eva views therapy as a collaborative space to co-create a healing experience that’s uniquely your own. Her work is rooted in a trauma-informed perspective and draws from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), narrative therapy, and existential therapy. She values curiosity as a powerful therapeutic tool—one that can help clients approach difficult thoughts, emotions, and behaviors with openness, reducing self-judgment and shame.
Eva works with adults, children, couples, and families of all configurations. Her areas of focus include anxiety, depression, relationship issues, grief and loss, chronic pain and illness, identity development, trauma and PTSD, addiction and substance use, and life transitions.
Just for fun:
Outside the office, Eva enjoys many creative pursuits—especially sewing her own clothes and learning to garden. She and her husband love birdwatching and exploring new parks throughout Northern Virginia. She’s also an avid reader and shares her home (and cozy reading sessions) with her cat, Coco.
