Background:
Julia is a Licensed Professional Counselor originally from Northern Virginia — and that roots her in something clinically meaningful. She understands firsthand the particular pressures of growing up in a high-achieving, high-expectation environment, and brings that awareness directly into her work with teens and young adults navigating similar terrain. She earned her undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of South Carolina before returning to the DMV to complete her Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at George Washington University.
Technique:
Julia draws from psychodynamic, solution-focused, and person-centered frameworks to create a therapeutic space that is collaborative, empowering, and paced to each client's comfort. Her work is especially well-suited to adolescents, college students, and young adults facing the identity questions, academic pressures, and life transitions that define that chapter of life — including questions around sexual and gender identity, body image, and the exhaustion of relentless self-criticism. Julia is also actively building her expertise in OCD and intrusive thoughts, pursuing more targeted ERP training to better serve clients whose anxiety shows up in this particularly misunderstood way. She works best with clients who are ready for an honest, empowering relationship — and who want a therapist that meets them where they are without judgment.
Just for fun:
Outside of counseling, Julia enjoys hot yoga, reading, and discovering new restaurants and recipes, which fuels her curiosity and creativity beyond the therapy room.
