Background:
Kimberly is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who earned her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of Mary Washington and her Master of Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University. Before pursuing clinical work, she spent time advocating for immigrant rights, an experience that brought her face to face with the ways trauma, adversity, and systemic barriers shape a person's life, and ultimately inspired her to pursue a career in social work. During graduate school, she completed her clinical internship working with survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. After earning her master's degree, she worked in community crisis services, providing crisis intervention and short-term counseling to children, teens, and adults navigating acute mental health challenges. Those experiences continue to inform her trauma-informed approach and her deep commitment to creating space where clients feel genuinely safe, supported, and understood.
Approach:
Kimberly's style is warm, collaborative, and deliberately tailored to each individual. Drawing from somatic therapy, ACT, TF-CBT, mindfulness-based approaches, and motivational interviewing, she builds treatment around what each client actually needs rather than a fixed formula. She has particular depth working with first-generation and immigrant clients, BIPOC individuals, and LGBTQ+ communities, and brings both professional expertise and lived personal experience as a first-generation Latina and daughter of immigrants to that work. Kimberly understands firsthand what it means to navigate multiple cultures, family expectations, and questions of identity and belonging, and that understanding is woven into how she shows up in the therapy room. She is bilingual in English and Spanish and offers therapy fully in both languages, a meaningful point of access for clients who do their deepest processing in their first language.
Just for fun:
Outside of work, Kimberly enjoys traveling, staying active through yoga and weightlifting, and getting lost in a good thriller book. She is also a big fan of documentaries and loves spending quality time with her husband and their two cats.
